Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how VVS LAND ("VVS LAND," "we," "us") collects, uses, and protects information in connection with the website at vvs.jewelry (the "Site"). It applies to visitors browsing the Site, shoppers and customers, people who contact support, newsletter subscribers, and anyone using our privacy choices tools.

Information you provide to us

When you place an order, we (through Shopify, which operates our checkout) collect your name, shipping and billing address, email, and payment information — payment details are handled directly by Shopify's checkout; VVS LAND never receives or stores your full card number. When you contact support, sign up for our newsletter, or submit an order-tracking request, we collect what you provide in that form (for example, your name, email, order number, and message).

Information collected automatically

We only describe below what our own systems actually collect. When you use the Site, our website infrastructure and service providers necessarily process standard web request information — such as IP address, general timestamps, and basic request metadata — to serve pages and to help protect our forms against automated abuse. Shopify similarly processes technical information needed to operate checkout (see "Cookies" below and our Cookie Policy). Beyond that, we do not run our own separate server-side visitor-tracking or fingerprinting system.

Order details (name, shipping address, email) and payment metadata (processed securely by Shopify — we never store card numbers).

Analytics: We offer a privacy-focused analytics service designed not to use cookies and not to collect information that can identify you personally, as an optional category you control. We only initialize it after you choose "Accept Analytics" in our privacy choices banner or footer preferences — it stays off if you reject it or haven't decided yet. See our Cookie Policy for how to change your choice. When enabled, it's designed to record only aggregated data like which pages were viewed, general location (city/region level), device and browser type, and anonymous shopping interactions (such as viewing a product, adding an item to your bag, beginning checkout, or how many results a search returned) — never your name, email, address, payment details, or the text of anything you type — and to stop sending this data entirely when your browser sends the Global Privacy Control signal, even if you've accepted. We do not currently use third-party advertising trackers or pixels (such as Google Ads, Meta, or TikTok) on the VVS LAND storefront.

Personalization: As a separate optional category you control, VVS LAND can order product listings using the recently viewed products already described below — for example, showing more jewelry or more watches first depending on what you've browsed. This only activates once you choose "Accept All" or turn Personalization on in Privacy Preferences; if you reject it or haven't decided, product order instead uses an anonymous, per-session shuffle that never reads your browsing history, held only in your browser's session storage and cleared when you close the tab. Turning Personalization on doesn't collect any new information — it only changes how information already stored in your browser (see Local storage below) is used — and it also stops if your browser sends the Global Privacy Control signal, even if you've accepted.

Local storage: Your browser locally stores your shopping bag, recently viewed products, accessibility preferences (like reduced motion), and your privacy choices from the banner, so the site works smoothly between visits and remembers your choices. Recently viewed products, accessibility preferences, and your privacy choices stay only on your device — none of it is ever sent to our servers. Your shopping bag syncs with Shopify's cart system, the same way described above, to keep checkout working. None of this is sold or shared with third parties beyond what's already described in this policy.

Cookies: Shopify, which powers our checkout, sets its own cookies as part of that process — these are controlled by Shopify, not by VVS LAND's own website code. See our Cookie Policy for details.

Recently viewed products, in detail

What's stored: the product's page identifier and, where a product page represents a specific style or variant (for example, a specific colorway of a family-merchandised product), that exact style/variant — never just a generic "this family was viewed" record — along with the title, image, price, and the time of viewing. Where it's stored: exclusively in your browser's local storage; it is never transmitted to or stored on our servers. Why: so "Your Last Viewed Pieces" and the optional Personalization category (described above) can work. Retention: we keep at most the 8 most recent entries; viewing the same item again moves it to the top instead of duplicating it, and older entries are pushed out automatically once that limit is reached — there is currently no separate time-based expiry beyond that 8-item cap. Leaving your device: no — this data never leaves your browser. Personalization use: only if you've accepted the Personalization category (or chosen "Accept All"); rejecting it, not deciding, or your browser sending Global Privacy Control (GPC) stops that use, though your device may still keep the underlying local-storage list itself for the plain "Your Last Viewed Pieces" display, which is strictly local and never uses your history to affect other visitors or catalog ordering. Clearing it: because this is ordinary browser local storage, you can clear it at any time using your browser's own "clear site data" / "clear browsing data" controls for vvs.jewelry; we do not currently offer a dedicated in-page "clear history" button.

Global Privacy Control (GPC)

We check for the Global Privacy Control signal your browser or a browser extension can send. Where detected, VVS LAND treats it as an opt-out for the optional Analytics and Personalization categories described above — new Analytics events are not sent, and new Recently Viewed personalization writes are not recorded — for that browsing session, regardless of any prior "Accept All" choice. This applies to the specific behaviors described in this policy; it does not change unrelated, strictly necessary functionality like your shopping bag or checkout.

Shopify's role

Shopify provides the storefront infrastructure, checkout, payment processing, and order fulfillment support behind our Site. When you check out, Shopify processes your order and payment details directly under its own systems and safeguards — VVS LAND does not receive or store your full card number, and does not control Shopify's own independent data practices as a payments/commerce platform. Shopify may also use order and fulfillment information for its own required technical operations, such as fraud prevention across its platform.

Service providers we use

Based on how the Site is actually built and run today, we use: Shopify (storefront, checkout, payment processing, order/customer records, and our newsletter signups); website infrastructure and hosting services (used to operate, deliver, and secure the Site, and — only if you accept the optional Analytics category — to provide the privacy-focused analytics described above); and an email provider for our Zoho-based support inbox, used only to receive and respond to messages you send through the Contact page. We don't list a category here unless it's actually integrated into the Site.

How we use information

To fulfill orders, respond to support requests, send order updates and tracking information, operate the optional Analytics/Personalization features described above with your consent, maintain the security of the Site (rate limiting and abuse prevention on our forms), and — with your consent — send marketing emails you can unsubscribe from at any time.

Sharing, sale & targeted advertising

We share information with service providers as described above, solely to operate the Site and fulfill your order, and as required by law (for example, in response to a valid legal request). VVS LAND does not sell personal information, and does not share personal information with third parties for targeted/cross-context advertising — this is a factual statement about our current implementation (no advertising pixels, retargeting tags, or ad-tech data-sharing integrations exist on the Site today), not merely a policy promise. If that ever changes, we will update this policy first.

Your privacy choices & rights

You can accept, reject, or change the optional Analytics and Personalization categories at any time via Privacy Preferences (see our Cookie Policy), and can clear locally-stored data (including Recently Viewed) using your browser's own settings. Depending on where you live, applicable privacy law may give you additional rights — such as the right to know what personal information we hold, request its deletion or correction, or opt out of sale/sharing/targeted advertising (which, as stated above, VVS LAND does not currently engage in). Because the specific rights that apply can depend on your location and on facts not yet finalized for this policy (see the Legal Review note above), we recommend contacting us via the Contact page with any specific request, and we will respond consistent with applicable law.

Data retention

Order and transaction records are retained by Shopify as part of operating our store, for as long as needed for accounting, legal, and order-support purposes. [The exact retention period for order records, and for customer-support correspondence, is pending confirmation for this section.] Newsletter subscriptions are retained until you unsubscribe. Recently viewed products and other local-storage data are retained only on your device as described above (an 8-item cap, no separate time-based expiry). We do not currently operate our own separate analytics data warehouse beyond what our analytics service itself retains under its own terms.

Children's privacy

The Site is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age required by applicable law (for example, 13 in the United States) without appropriate consent, and if we become aware that we have done so, we will take steps to delete it. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, please contact us via the Contact page.

International visitors

The Site is accessible internationally, and pages are available in multiple languages. [Whether VVS LAND specifically targets or regularly serves residents of the EU/EEA, UK, or other jurisdictions with their own data-protection regimes — and, if so, the applicable lawful bases, international-transfer safeguards, and controller/processor analysis — is pending legal review and is not yet represented as determined in this policy.] If you are located outside the United States, information you provide may be processed by Shopify and other service providers that operate infrastructure in the United States and other countries.

Security

We maintain reasonable technical and organizational safeguards designed to protect information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction — including encrypted (HTTPS/TLS) connections, security-focused response headers, automated abuse-prevention measures on our forms, and isolation of server-side credentials from client-facing code. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. If we become aware of a security incident affecting your personal information, we will investigate and provide any notice required by applicable law within the timeframe that law requires.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as our practices or the Site change. We will not represent a data practice as disabled, optional, or local-only in this policy while the Site actually does otherwise — if our practices change, we will update this page first.
